TSC Center of Excellence
The UTHealth Houston – Memorial Hermann Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) Center of Excellence
Founded in 2006, the TSC Center of Excellence aims to provide the highest level of cutting-edge medical care to individuals affected by TSC; to perform both clinical and basic research on TSC; and to educate medical professionals and the public about its effects.
The TSC Center of Excellence Clinic, part of the NORD Center of Excellence program, is the only TSC Alliance designated TSC clinic in the state of Texas to serve both pediatric and adult patients. Patients with a diagnosis or suspected diagnosis of TSC can schedule an appointment to be seen by multiple specialties including Genetics, Neurology, Nephrology and Endocrinology.
TSC Center of Excellence Services include:
- Physical examination
- Detailed review of patient medical and family history
- Explanation of TSC inheritance patterns
- Review of genetic testing/discussion of genetic testing options
- Family planning options
- Development of treatment plan for TSC ongoing surveillance
- Neurological examination
- Discussion of neurological manifestations in TSC
- Review of neuroimaging
- Development of treatment plan for TSC ongoing surveillance
- Physical examination
- Discussion of renal manifestations in TSC
- Review of renal imaging and renal labs
- Development of treatment plan for TSC ongoing surveillance
- Physical examination
- Discussion of endocrine manifestations in TSC
- Development of treatment plan for TSC ongoing surveillance
Clinic Information
The TSC clinic is held every Monday in the UT Physicians Professional Building, Suite 500 (5th floor). Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm CST.
