Immersive Fellowship Experiences at the Frontlines of Innovation

At the heart of our program is a commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and service to a diverse patient population. Our fellows train in high-impact environments alongside nationally recognized faculty, gaining exposure to cutting-edge research, advanced procedures, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The following collage captures the energy, teamwork, and dedication that define our fellowship experience.

Our faculty provide double and triple attending coverage with resident support across two dynamic facilities, collectively managing over 150,000 annual patient visits. Memorial Hermann–Texas Medical Center (TMC) serves as the flagship site of our residency program and is Houston’s only Level I trauma and tertiary care center with aeromedical receiving capabilities. As a full-service institution, it offers 24-hour cardiac care, a primary stroke center designation, and a newly opened Heart and Vascular Institute, making it a premier destination for high-acuity emergency care and advanced clinical training. The Lyndon Baines Johnson Hospital (LBJ), part of the Harris Health System, complements this experience by providing high-volume community emergency care in a diverse patient population, offering residents exposure to a broad spectrum of pathology and practice environments.

Our nationally recognized faculty are actively engaged in local, state, and national emergency medicine organizations, contributing to leadership, advocacy, and innovation in the field. The department maintains a robust research portfolio focused on neuro- and cardiovascular emergencies, emergency department overcrowding, medical error reduction, disaster medicine and its public health implications, acute trauma, point-of-care ultrasonography, and simulation-based medical education.

We are proud to be a recipient of one of the NIH’s NETT (Neurological Emergencies Treatment Trials) center grants, further underscoring our commitment to advancing emergency care through research and collaboration.
