Achin Khanna, MD, DNB

Where are you coming to us from?
I am originally from Mumbai, India, but I’ve been living in Louisiana for the past 2 years for my Nephrology fellowship, which is also where my fiancée lives.

What are you most excited about this year?
The opportunity to work at the world’s largest medical center at various sites with a bunch of people who share the same passion! (And continuing to enjoy Southern comfort food).

Why did you choose Geriatric or Palliative Medicine as a subspecialty?
With my background in Nephrology, I hope to expand the niche of Geriatric Nephrology. I also held a strong interest in Neurocognitive Sciences and Neuropsychiatry, and would love to train in a field that is closely connected to all these domains. I love interacting with my patients, and I believe an extra couple of minutes goes farthest in adding to the impact of medical care in the geriatric population.

What is the most fun thing you want people to know about you?
I’m always up for travel, especially in the form of road trips! My longest one thus far has been a 4500-mile drive spanning 10 days from Shreveport, LA to Cheyenne, WY, passing through 6 states and 4 National Parks.
