Rotations

Ace Care for Elderly (ACE) Unit
Fellows rotate in a 16 bed medical floor to become proficient in management of inpatient older adults with high acuity to provide patient-centered care to promote health, prevent complications, and optimize function, as well as gain experience and proficiency in interdisciplinary teams.

Geriatric Inpatient Consult
Fellows will provide inpatient consultative services to primary teams in medical, neurological, surgical, and trauma patients.

LBJ Inpatient Consult
Fellows rotate on the inpatient consult service providing services to primary teams on geriatric and palliative care management. There is close collaboration with the oncology service, staffed by MD Anderson faculty and residents.

Bridge Rotation
Fellows learn to work with an interdisciplinary team for multi-morbid patients transitioning from hospital or outpatient setting to home bound.

Elder Mistreatment
Fellows gain experience in working with Adult Protective Services, and assess for capacity, as well gain experience working with an interdisciplinary team.

Wound Care
Fellows gain experience in outpatient wound care experience, including exposure to treatment with hyperbaric oxygen.

Congestive Heart Failure
Fellows gain experience in management of outpatient advanced heart failure patients.

GYN/Neuro
Fellows become more confident in providing gynecological care to women, and neurological care in dementia and movement disorders, respectively.

NH/Medical Directorship
Fellows learn patient management of post-acute care and skilled nursing home, as well administrative duties in this setting, including role of a medical director

Elective
This elective provides fellows an opportunity to explore various geriatric settings, work on scholarly projects, or dive further into provided clinical rotations.
