How to Apply
The Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth uses the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) system and participates in the National Resident Match Program (NRMP) Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP). UTHealth does not accept H1B visas. J1 visas are permitted.
Applicants to the program should have completed 3 years of an ACGME-accredited residency by their fellowship start date. The specialties that may subspecialize in hospice and palliative medicine include:
- Anesthesiology
- Emergency medicine
- Family medicine
- Internal medicine
- Obstetrics and gynecology
- Pediatrics
- Physician medicine and rehabilitation
- Psychiatry
- Neurology
- Radiology
- Surgery
Application materials should be submitted to the program via ERAS:
- Curriculum Vitae
- 3 Letters of Reference (May be from current colleagues if you are already in practice, however ideally, at least one letter should be from your residency program director or faculty. Exceptions can be made in extenuating circumstances.)
- Personal Statement
- Medical School Diploma (translated if needed)
- Medical School Transcript (translated if needed)
- USMLE Steps (1 & 2 required before the rank list deadline)
- ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)
- Visa Status / Citizenship Status
- Application Form
- Recent Professional Photo
