Message From Our Division Chief

Neurocritical Care Director Alex Choi

“Our Neurocritical care program is one of the largest in the country, with over 75 dedicated Neuro ICU beds within three Memorial Hermann Hospitals across Houston, Texas. Our program focuses on three pillars essential for a robust academic neurocritical care program: excellence in clinical care, outstanding training, and transformative research.  Excellence in clinical care is at the core of our program, allowing us to train outstanding fellows that have graduated to become successful neurocritical care attendings in both academic and community settings.  Our fellowship program graduated its first fellow in 2012 and now accepts 4 fellows every year. Many of our graduates have assumed leadership roles and established their own successful neurocritical care programs.  Our transformative research is centered around clinical care. Our research has received funding from various institutions such as NIH, DOD and NSF allowing us to do patient-centered research that is made possible by extensive clinical/ biospecimen repositories established to study SAH/TBI/Stroke using cutting edge research.”

Our mission statement is:
To Inspire Pride and Passion for Neurocritical Care

Our Vision statement is:
To Be Innovative Leaders in Advancing Knowledge and Best Practice for the Treatment of Acute Neurologic Diseases
