Neuroanesthesia Fellowship Receives ICPNT Accreditation

March 24, 2023

Congratulations to Dr. Rajan, Dr. Ferrario, and the Neuroanesthesia Pod for receiving the International Council for Perioperative Neuroscience Training (ICPNT) accreditation for our Neuroanesthesiology Fellowship.

The ICPNT functions as an accreditation body for neuro anesthesia fellowships worldwide.  It requires that fellowships abide by a standardized curriculum that includes rotations in areas such as Neuro OR, Neuro IR, Neuro ICU, Neuro monitoring, and Neuro Research.  This accreditation will offer collaboration where fellows can interact with international experts in the field.  Fellows will also participate and present in the annual scientific sessions of the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesia and Critical Care (SNACC) and participate in workshops that teach Neuromonitoring.  The mission of this council is to cultivate fellows into future leaders in the field of Perioperative Neuroscience.

UTHealth Houston is amongst 30 elite programs internationally to have become accredited.  Other programs in the United States include Cleveland Clinic, University of Washington, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Stanford, and Yale.  UTHealth will have one fellowship position to be filled annually.  More information is available on the website at www.icpnt.org.
