Newest Department Directors
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Toni Smith, MD, has been selected as Medical Director of the LBJ Preoperative Screening Clinic. Dr. Smith completed her residency in anesthesia at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After joining our department in 2014 , she has played an integral role in LBJ clinical services including regional anesthesia, acute pain management, resident education and ambulatory care.

After an internal search, we are pleased to announce that Dr. Sudipta Sen, MD, has been selected as Associate Director of Operating Rooms at Memorial Hermann Hospital. Dr. Sen completed her residency in anesthesia at Indiana University School of Medicine and a fellowship in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine from the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth before joining the department in 2017. Please join us in welcoming her to this position, effective August 1st 2023.
