Welcome to the Department of Anesthesiology – New Team Members for January through September 2023
We would like to welcome the below new faculty and staff members to the department.
Jennifer Hoayek, MD
Dr. Hoayek joined the department on January 17th as an Assistant Professor to support our obstetric anesthesiology group. She completed her residency at the American University of Beirut Medical Center, her pediatric anesthesia fellowship at John’s Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD, and her obstetric and fetal anesthesia fellowship at the McGovern Medical School at UT Health in Houston, TX.
Sean Kelly, MD
Dr. Kelly joined the department on January 23rd as an Assistant Professor to support our general anesthesiology group. He completed his residency at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.
Serena George
Serena joined the department on February 16th as an Administrative Assistant to support our credentialing / recruitment office.
Robert Hill, MD
Dr. Hill joined the department on March 1st as an Assistant Professor to support our pedi cv anesthesiology group. He completed his residency at the New York Medical College, St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ. He completed his pediatric anesthesia fellowship at the McGovern Medical School in Houston, TX.
Jie Zhao, MD, PhD
Dr. Zhao joined the department on March 20th as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support Dr. Cynthia Ju’s lab group.
Jenna Slodki
Jenna joined the department on April 1st as a Patient Access Representative II (Chronic Pain Medicine). She was previously working at the Bayshore Clinic support multispecialty services, but has recently transferred to the department to support our pain management services.
Wanda Miller-Hance, MD
Dr. Miller-Hance joined the department on May 1st as a Staff Physician to support our pedi and adult cv anesthesiology groups. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX and her anesthesiology residency at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. She completed her research fellowship in smooth muscle pharmacology and physiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, another research fellowship in cellular and molecular biology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, and her pediatric cardiology fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
Dongze Zhang, MD
Dr. Zhang joined the department on May 15th as an Assistant Professor in our research division, specializing in heart disease. Prior to joining UTHealth, he worked for the University of Nebraska as an Instructor in the Department of Emergency Medicine. He completed his MD in Clinical Medicine from Tongji University in Shanghai, China.
Hyun-Jung Jung
Hyun-Jung joined the department on May 16th as a Research Assistant to support Dr. Kangho Kim’s lab group.
Valerie Aragon
Valerie joined the department on June 1st as an Administrative Assistant to support the faculty and advanced care providers.
Kimesha Webb
Kimesha joined the department on June 20th as a Program Manager to support the CAA program.
Aubrey Samost-Williams, MD
Dr. Samost-Williams joined the department on July 1st as an Assistant Professor to support our general anesthesiology group. She completed her residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. She completed her research fellowship at the Harvard School of Public Health Boston, MA.
Camille Godreuil, PhD
Dr. Godreuil joined the department on July 14th as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support Dr. Wei Cao’s lab group.
Matthew DeBerge, PhD
Dr. DeBerge joined the department on July 16th as an Assistant Professor in our research division, specializing in heart disease. Prior to joining UTHealth, he worked for Northwestern University at the Feinberg School of Medicine. He completed his PhD in Physiology and Neurobiology from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.
Hayden Jefferies, DO
Dr. Hayden Jefferies joined the department on July 17th as an Assistant Professor to support our general anesthesiology group. He completed his residency at the McGovern Medical School at UT Health in Houston.
Junha Lee
Junha joined the department on July 17th as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support Dr. Holger Eltzschig’s lab group.
Gina Davis, CRNA
Gina joined the department on July 24th as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to support Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Sanjana Malviya, MD
Dr. Malviya joined the department on August 1st as an Assistant Professor to support our cardiovascular anesthesiology group. She completed her residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and her cardiac anesthesiology fellowship at Texas Heart Institute in Houston, TX.
Christina Goehl, MD
Dr. Goehl joined the department on August 1st as an Assistant Professor to support our general/regional anesthesiology group. She completed her residency and fellowship at the McGovern Medical School at UT Health in Houston, TX.
Janefrances Egbosiuba, MD
Dr. Egbosiuba joined the department on September 1st as an Assistant Professor to support our general anesthesiology group. She completed her residency at the McGovern Medical School at UT Health in Houston, TX.
Paden Karnes, MD
Dr. Karnes joined the department on September 1st as an Assistant Professor to support our cardiovascular anesthesiology group. He completed his residency at the McGovern Medical School at UT Health in Houston, TX.
Christina Williams, MD
Dr. Christina Williams joined the department on September 1st as an Assistant Professor to support our pediatric anesthesiology group. She completed her residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA. She completed her pediatric anesthesia fellowship at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Stanford, CA.
Tolulope Oso, MD
Dr. Oso joined the department on September 1st as an Assistant Professor to support our chronic pain anesthesiology group. She completed her residency at the McGovern Medical School at UT Health in Houston, TX. She completed her interventional pain medicine fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
