Welcome to the Department of Anesthesiology – New Team Members for September through October 2023

We would like to welcome the below new faculty and staff members to the department.

Alyssa Pinkston, FNP

Alyssa joined the department on May 15^th as a Family Nurse Practitioner to the LBJ Pre-op clinic.  She received her adult-geriatric nurse practitioner degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.  Alyssa previously work for Ascension Seton in Austin, TX in the perioperative surgical home clinic.

 

Charlotte Malone, CRNA

Charlotte joined the department on July 3^rd as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to support LBJ.  She received her degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.

 

Gina Davis, CRNA

Gina joined the department on July 24^th as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to support Memorial Hermann Hospital.

 

 

 

 

 

Catherine Bertels, CRNA

Catherine joined the department on August 21^st as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to support LBJ. She received her BS in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania and her Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.  Catherine previously worked for Texans Anesthesia.

 

Yuanyuan Fan, PhD

Dr. Fan joined the department on September 21^st as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support Dr. Cynthia Ju’s lab group.

 

 

 

 

Daniela Magdaleno, MD

Dr. Magdaleno joined the department on October 1^st as an Assistant Professor to support our chronic pain anesthesiology group. She completed her MD at Escula J.M. Vargas at Universidad Central de Venezuela, her residency at the McGovern Medical School at UT Health in Houston, TX.  She completed her pain management fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.

 

 

 

Amanda Jones, MD

Dr. Jones joined the department on October 1^st as an Assistant Professor to support our critical care anesthesiology group. She completed her MD at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN, and both her residency and critical care fellowship at the McGovern Medical School at UT Health in Houston, TX.

 

 

 

 

Jim Sheng, MD

Dr. Sheng joined the department on October 1^st as an Assistant Professor to support our critical care anesthesiology group. He completed his MD  and residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX, and his critical care fellowship at the McGovern Medical School at UT Health in Houston, TX.

 

 

 

 

Leslie Yarmush, MD

Dr. Yarmush has transitioned to a Part-time Staff Physician in the department on October 1^st to support our general anesthesiology group. He completed his MD at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, his residency and cardiac anesthesia fellowship at New York University in New York, NY.

 

 

 

 

Wenfeng Hu, PhD

Dr. Hu joined the department on October 16^th as a Research Program Manager to support Dr. Dongze Zhang’s lab group.

 

 

 

 

Wenxi Lian, PhD

Dr. Lian joined the department on October 24^th as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support Dr. Dongze Zhang’s lab group.
