We are delighted to share exciting news with you regarding a significant addition to our Department. We are proud to introduce the new Master of Science in Anesthesia (MSA) Program, which will be an integral part of our Department. This new program represents a major milestone for UTHealth Houston, the McGovern Medical School, and, of course, the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. The MSA Program will welcome its inaugural class of 35 students as they begin class on Monday, August 26. The students will start their clinical rotations late September.
We are in the process of planning a special Grand Rounds session focused on education. During this session, we will provide an in-depth overview of the program and discuss how it will integrate into our Department. In the meantime, I encourage you to visit and share the program’s website.
Our Department is very familiar with training CAAs and has been doing so for over ten years. However, the arrival of the UTH-MSA students will bring a new dynamic. These students will be our students and our responsibility. They will be members of our Department, and we will need the full help and support of each of you as part of the UTH Anesthesia family to ensure their success (& hopefully future employment at UTH).
