September 2, 2025

The Department of Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, Critical Care, which is comprised of both Basic Science Research and Clinical faculty, is delighted to announce that the McGovern Medical School Faculty Academic Promotions and Tenure Committee (FAPTC) has approved the promotion of a total of eight faculty members effective September 1st, 2025. The promotion process of Research faculty on the Tenure Track is overseen by Dr. Holger Eltzschig (Chairman) and Dr. Cynthia Ju (Vice Chair of Basic Science Research), and the promotion process of clinical faculty on the non-tenured track is overseen by the Department Promotions Committee and is comprised of clinical professors. We specifically thank Dr. Marie-Françoise Doursout for her extensive involvement in the department promotions process and her past service on the FAPTC, Dr. Maya Suresh for her contributions as our past Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs, as well as Dr. Lara Ferrario for her current service on the McGovern School FAPTC. We also acknowledge and thank Kathy Franz, for her outstanding efforts in the final process of preparing the Chairman’s letters and ensuring the promotions packages contain all the required documents before submission to the FAPTC.

The department submitted eight faculty members for promotion for 2025-2026, and all eight — six Associate Professors and two Professors, were approved by the FAPTC.
