Announcement of Eric Vu as New Director PDCV

The Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine at UTHealth would like thank Dr. Rebecca Scholl for her service as Interim Division Chief for Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia. Dr. Scholl will continue to serve in her roles as Education Director for Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia and for the Children’s Heart Institute (CHI).

After a search, effective November 1, 2025, Dr. Eric Vu is appointed as Division Chief for Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia.

Dr. Vu joined the department in June 2024 as an Associate Professor, supporting pediatric cardiac anesthesia and serving in roles for perioperative informatics for the division and the Children’s Heart Institute (CHI). He completed medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch and residency at Baylor College of Medicine, and his pediatric anesthesiology and pediatric cardiovascular anesthesiology fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Vu also has a B.S. in Bioengineering from Rice University, and an M.S. in Clinical Investigation from Baylor College of Medicine.

We offer our gratitude to Dr. Scholl for her fantastic leadership over the past two years, and welcome Dr. Vu into his new role as Division Chief.
