Welcome Nadia Ali | Assistant Director Educational Programs | Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine
Please join me in welcoming Nadia Ali as our Assistant Director, Educational Programs.
We are pleased to introduce Nadia Ali as our first Assistant Director, Educational Programs for the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine. This new role for the department is representative of the growth of our education mission, along with the expected future expansion opportunities in this vital mission area. Nadia will oversee the broader administrative aspects of the education mission, including the establishment of the Anesthesiology Education Center (AEC) which will feature our Simulation Programs initially, followed by expanded programs for both internal and external stakeholders. As Assistant Director, Educational Programs, Ms. Ali works under the guidance of the Vice Chair of Education and Director of Management Operations, providing administrative leadership, operational support, and contributing to the strategic planning across the entire education mission of the department. The Educational Programs administrative team serves 200-plus trainees and students, along with the respective Program Directors and Assistant/Associate Program Directors. Our current Managers for the Educational Programs, Marshandra Cooper for Residency & Fellowships, and Grace Cavazos for the MSA Program, will report to Ms. Ali, along with the simulation program staff of Monique Henning and Sadie Gilbride. We are excited for the future of the education offerings in the department.
Ms. Ali brings more than a total of 17 years of Anesthesia-specific experience between Baylor College of Medicine/CommonSpirit Health and MD Anderson Cancer Center, resulting in a broad and accomplished background across academic medicine. She most recently served as the Associate Administrator for the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, where she led strategic, operational, and organizational initiatives that strengthened their clinical, research, and educational missions. In her roles, she contributed her leadership to Administration, Residency and Fellowship Program Coordination, and Patient Services. Nadia’s extensive experience across education, clinical operations, research management, and academic leadership position her well as a valuable asset to UTHealth Houston, bringing depth, versatility, and a strong understanding of the complexities of academic medicine.
Nadia’s interests reflect a life lived in constant motion. Together with her husband, she is raising two Montessorian boys who share her appreciation for travel, discovery, and transforming each new destination into a memory worthy of adding to their shared family map. She remains deeply engaged in her community, coaching high school volleyball and umpiring youth sports with a blend of dedication and patience. When she is not on the court or cheering for her own child on the soccer field, she follows college football closely, proudly supporting her Texas Longhorns. Beyond athletics, she is an avid patron of the arts, attending live theatre productions across the city and championing both major performances and emerging local talent. She also truly enjoys comedy shows. Preferably the kind that deliver the sharpest wit and the cleverest humor because she strongly believes that laughter is the best medicine.
