Work Life Balance & Wellness
- 8 hour shifts at MHH & LBJ
- 3 weeks of vacation per year
- Large residency means there is always someone to hang out with off-shift and or trade shifts

Exceptional Training
- Two phenomenal EDs with high acuity, exceptional trauma and pediatric EM experience, ICU rotations (no wards!)

- Large variety of elective experiences Life Flight, Sports Medicine, Medical Spanish, Critical Care, Pediatric Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine Global & Rural Health (in the last 2 years, we’ve had residents spend time in Ecuador, Vietnam, Ghana, rural Idaho, and the Navajo Nation)
- Supported conference registration/travel for any accepted presentation

Intern Orientation
- First block of residency is dedicated to transitioning to internship, bonding with classmates, and shaking off the cobwebs
- Orientation shifts in the ED
- Get acquainted with workflow and EMR of different care spaces
- Advanced Trauma Life Support certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification
- *Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
- Not provided until your current certification expires; you must have it when you begin.

Getting to Work
- Residents train at two main sites
- Memorial Hermann Hospital located in the heart of TMC (inside the 610 loop)
- LBJ county hospital located in northeast Houston (just outside 610 loop)
- Shifts are scheduled to avoid highest traffic times
- Having a car is encouraged! Houston is a very large and spread-out city
- METRORail goes right to MHH TMC
