Cardiovascular Disease Research Pathway (TMB) Fellowship

The mission of the Cardiovascular Disease Research Pathway Fellowship Program at UTHealth Houston is to train future academic cardiovascular disease leaders to be among the best in the field. The aim of this one-year, TMB approved training program, is to provide a robust teaching environment coupled with diverse clinical experiences, research and academic prospects in the field of cardiovascular medicine.

Curriculum

Precision CV Health (3 months)

  • Precision Cardiovascular clinic. Special topics: Exosome, metabolome, and application of pharmacogenetics and epigenetics in cardiovascular medicine.
  • Advanced PET-Nuclear Precision CVD management and prevention. Advanced Echocardiography, 3D TEE, Pharmacological stress.
  • CV MRI, CV CT applications to precision CVD.

CV Digital Health (3 months)

  • CVD genetics, whole genome sequencing, gene editing technology of CRISPR applied to CVDs.
  • Nano technology and newer digital technologies applied to CVD.
  • CVD and prevention telemedicine consulting and health care providing in underserved areas.

Augmented Intelligence (AI) and Big Data (3 months)

  • Bioinformatics and CVD. Simulation projects.
  • Augmented Intelligence (AI) in CVD
  • Block chain applications. Electronic medical records. Behavioral and CVD.

Academic Innovation, Leadership, Research & Publications (3 months)

  • Leadership and health administration. Ethics, human and robotic.
  • National meetings, presentations, and vacations.
  • Research and publications.

 

How To Apply

All candidates applying to the Cardiovascular Disease Research Pathway Fellowship Program must have successfully completed a 3-year categorical program in Internal Medicine; or successfully completed 3-years of Cardiovascular Disease training from an ACGME accredited program.

International graduates must meet the requirements of the Graduate Medical Education and Immigration Services Office at UTHealth, as well as the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. We only sponsor J-1 visas and require international graduates to meet the terms for a Physician-in-Training, as outlined by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.

The Cardiovascular Disease Research Pathway Fellowship Program does not participate in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). The application process is electronic, and the following documents are required to complete the process:
