  • Webinars: Held weekly at noon, webinars are designed to cover high-yield board topics and are presented by fellows and faculty.
  • Case Presentations: Fellows will take turns leading a case presentation during the monthly academic half-day. Cases with interesting learning points are presented, and patient safety events are analyzed. Faculty mentors are available to assist.
  • Texas Consortium of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (TCHPM) Journal Club: Fellows will co-present high-yield articles along with fellows from other HPM programs across Texas. Faculty mentors are assigned to assist both during and prior to presentations.
  • TCHPM Educational Series: Held monthly, faculty from various institutions will discuss practical topics to foster growth and prepare each fellow to become a successful palliative medicine specialist.
  • Didactic Afternoons: Held once monthly, the didactic sessions occur from 1 to 5 pm and include:
    • Board Review
    • Quality Improvement & Research Curriculum
    • Additional workshop or webinar-style presentation
    • Wellness & Self-Care activity
  • Navigating Career Transitions: Longitudinal curriculum to equip fellows with tools to define and achieve their career goals, provide structured guidance for job search and negotiation, and foster mentorship to support professional growth and decision-making.
  • Five Senses Curriculum and Arts-Based Education: A longitudinal curriculum that develops fellows’ verbal and non-verbal communication skills by participating in workshops (locally) and arts-based education (at the Houston Museum District). Arts-based education employs several evidence-based, learner-centered approaches to foster critical thinking, observation, and communication skills through the discussion of visual art.
