Clinical and Experimental Studies on Obesity and The Heart

  • You will learn basic research techniques, attend research seminars and observe laboratory work, including heart perfusions, proteins isolations and RNA extractions.
  • Review syllabus of the papers from the lab addressing the heart in obesity and insulin resistance.
  • Study the literature and prepare an essay of about six pages of 1500 words on metabolic dysregulation and its effect on heart function.
  • The goal is to gain an understanding of basic science research in metabolism and molecular cardiology.
