The mission of the Medical Student Research Office at McGovern Medical School of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston is to support the training of future physician-researchers and scholars.

The goals of MSRO are to guide students through the process of:

• identifying faculty research mentors
• conducting focused research studies
• developing critical thinking skills
• developing communication skills
• recognizing the vital role of research in health care delivery
• analyzing published biomedical research
• appreciating the challenges facing biomedical research and its applications to clinical practice
• securing desired residency placement
