Proposal Does the proposal provide in the student’s own words a concise summary and description of the work to be done (i.e., the student did not simply cut and paste sections of the original grant)?
Hypothesis Is the hypothesis, problem or question well focused, clearly stated and conveyed convincingly?
Background Does the proposal provide sufficient background information to understand the problem under study?
Significance Is the problem under study important to the health or welfare of patients and/or to society at large?
Experimental Design Are the methods and procedures appropriate, and their description adequate?
Personal Statement Has student shown strong desire to do research?
