PROGRAM EVOLUTION
From travel interruption to sustained collaboration
2020-2021
Remote webinar series
When travel paused, monthly webinars maintained connection with practicing radiologists. McGovern Medical School faculty covered emergency, chest, cardiac, breast, pediatric, abdominal, head and neck, and thyroid imaging. Attendance exceeded 100 at some sessions.
SUMMER 2021
Resident-led interactive workshop
Moroccan and McGovern residents alternated didactic teaching and case discussion, creating peer-to-peer exchange and a more interactive format.
2022
Structured resident education
Fifty-one residents from seven Moroccan cities were recruited. Twenty-three Saturday sessions ran from January through June, with knowledge checks and a final assessment. Major diagnostic and interventional radiology areas and non-interpretive skills were covered.
2022-2024
Second cycle and continuing teaching
A second education cycle followed with the Groupe de Radiologie Franco-Marocain. Remote didactic and case-based sessions continued through 2023-2024, supported by faculty mentorship and resident participation.

Leadership and mission
These resident-education cycles are an effort led by Dr. Latifa Sanhaji and delivered primarily by radiology faculty from McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, together with Moroccan partners. Their mission is to supplement local training, strengthen interpretation, build practical skills, and sustain mentorship and scholarly exchange.
