MISSION-ERA RADIOLOGY

What the early visits documented

Access and distribution
Radiology services were concentrated in major cities, while rural communities depended more heavily on mobile radiography and ultrasound outreach. The team observed marked differences between public and private facilities in equipment, workflow, and patient populations.
Workforce and training
The four-year residency pathway had limited formal teaching and evaluation, insufficient academic educators, and no radiology subspecialty fellowship training. Residents and faculty requested structured modules, interactive case review, practical workshops, and sustained mentorship.
Systems, quality, and safety
Selected public departments had incomplete image-system integration, limited workstations, and manual patient-information workflows. Medical physics support, dosimetry review, equipment quality control, radiation safety training, and tested disaster preparedness required strengthening.
