About Us

The McGovern Medical School Office of Admissions and Student Affairs endeavors to provide quality, timely support for our medical student community and faculty. Leading our students through the challenging yet rewarding journey that is undergraduate medical education, the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs serves as the principle resource in promoting the personal and professional growth of MMS students. It is a privilege to serve the needs of all of our medical students, including alumni and future matriculates, and to work with those students to deliver programs that enhance the entire student experience, from education to student life to career planning. Our office organizes the seminal events of medical school including Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Student Clinician Ceremony, Alpha Omega Alpha Induction, Match Day and Commencement, to name only a few.

In addition, the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs has the role of acting as a liaison to faculty and administration, assisting with academic advising, coordinating the residency application process (plus compilation of the Medical Student Performance Evaluation), and developing, clarifying and enforcing relevant rules and policies. We also hear and follow-up on any student-related complaints, allegations of harassment or academic dishonesty, reports of student mistreatment, and resulting legal issues.

Students are encouraged to stop by the office to get to know the staff, and are welcome to consult with any of the deans of the Office at any time.
