Dr. Yanyu Wang Promoted to Director of Research Services

The department is pleased to announce the promotion of Yanyu Wang, Ph.D., to Director, Research Services, for the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine, effective March 16, 2024. As Director of the Research Services, Yanyu will lead the services that support the research mission, including pre- and post-award grants management, financial reporting, lab infrastructure, and the planning and allocation of resources and space for research. She will work with our research faculty to support the responsible conduct of research and research compliance. Yanyu will assist with faculty recruitment and onboarding as well as support for the future growth of the Center for Perioperative Research. She will manage the research administration staff and participate in the strategic planning and development of the research mission. In addition, she will continue to be an active member of the Eltzschig and Yuan Laboratory Teams.

Dr. Yanyu Wang joined UTHealth in 2007 as a student in the lab of Dr. Kevin Morano. She received a doctorate in Biomedical Sciences in 2012 from the UTHouston School of Biomedical Sciences and a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Life Science and Biotechnology and Agriculture and landscape from the Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai, China. Yanyu did postdoctoral research at Texas A&M Health Science Center in Houston before join UTHealth Houston in 2016 as a Research Coordinator in Dr. Eltzschig’s lab.  Since her recruitment in 2016, she has served in the lab with ever increasing scope and impact, leading to her promotion to this vital role for the Research mission of the department. We fully expect her influence and impact to continue to growth both for the department and for the University.

In her free time, Yanyu enjoys gardening and crochet, has her own small rose garden, and volunteers at her daughter’s school as a gardener.
