Biography
Dr. Santos has been a clinician-educator for more than 20 years. She serves as the director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program and has participated in national activities related to psychiatric education including the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the Psychiatry Resident-in-Training Exam (PRITE), the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Training and Education Committee and Lifelong Learning Committee. Recently Santos was a committee member for The Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Milestone Project, which provides a framework for the assessment of fellows as physicians. Actively involved in implementing problem-based learning and clinical training of residents and fellows, she has received numerous teaching awards, including The University of Texas Academy of Health Science Education Distinguished Teaching Professor.
Santos specializes in the child and adolescent psychiatry outpatient population. She has participated in research with children with developmental disorders including autism, disruptive behavior disorders and ADHD.
