Policy on Preparation of Residents for Teaching
Requirement:
- All incoming residents are required to participate in a GME orientation workshop on the topic of teaching and creating a positive learning environment. This educational activity prepares them for teaching and assessing medical students.
Additional Support Available:
- A longitudinal program, the Physician Educator Certificate Program, is offered to residents and fellows who desire additional training in pedagogy to build effective teaching skills.
- Workshops such as “Effective Teaching,” “Providing Feedback,” and “Assessment of Learners” are offered through the Office of Educational Programs. Workshops can be requested at any time.
