The John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical Student Research Awards

The John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical Student Research Award is an award for outstanding research by a student.  This award was established in honor and appreciation to the McGovern Foundation and Mrs. Kathrine G. McGovern.

The Spring Research Day and The John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical Student Research Award Competition is for graduating fourth-year students who conducted research during their participation in McGovern Medical School’s Scholarly Concentration Program (SCP) and Academic Career Focus Tract (ACT).  The Spring Research Day typically takes place late in early March (before Match Day) at McGovern Medical School.   Entry to the competition is voluntary. Each MS4 student in the competition for The John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical Student Research Award has two judges from the McGovern Medical School.  Student Research is judged on content, presentation, and knowledge of the research study.  First, Second, and Place winners are announced the following day of the event. Each winner will receive award ribbons, monetary rewards, award certificates, and picture opportunities with the Director of the SRP, Vice Dean of the Office of Educational Programs, and Dean of MMS.
