2026 – 2027 Chief Residents

We’re excited to announce our newly selected Chief Residents for the 2026–2027 academic year in the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Medicine at UTHealth Houston.

These outstanding individuals have consistently demonstrated strong leadership, clinical excellence, and a genuine commitment to education and mentorship. In their roles as chief residents, they will help guide their peers, support faculty initiatives, foster a collaborative learning environment, and work to enhance the overall residency experience for the entire program.

Meet Our New Chief Residents

Katrina Baca, MD

Dr. Baca will lead efforts in residency recruitment with an emphasis on strengthening the resident experience and fostering a supportive, connected residency community.

Haley Holderness, MD

With a passion for resident education and development, Dr. Holderness helps support academic growth and enhance the educational experience throughout residency.

Casey Horani, DO

Dr. Horani is focused on resident wellness and engagement, working to foster a positive, supportive environment and strengthen connections within the residency program.

Monica Ha, MD

Serving as a key resource for scheduling and resident operations, Dr. Ha helps coordinate staffing and call schedules while supporting the day-to-day needs of the residency program.
