2026 Department Promotions

The Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine is pleased to share that eight faculty members have been approved for promotion by the McGovern Medical School Faculty Academic Promotions and Tenure Committee (FAPTC), effective Sept. 1, 2026.

The Department’s promotions reflect the achievements of both basic science research faculty and clinical faculty. Promotions of the tenure-track research faculty are overseen by Chair Dr. Holger Eltzschig and Vice Chair of Basic Science Research Dr. Cynthia Ju. Promotions of non-tenure track clinical faculty are reviewed by the Department Promotions Committee, which is composed of the department’s professors who evaluate candidates based on their accomplishments and contributions across the missions of clinical care, education, research, and service.

We are grateful to Dr. Marie-Françoise Doursout for her long-standing work on departmental promotions and her prior service on the FAPTC, and to Dr. Lara Ferrario for representing the department on the school-wide committee. Special thanks also go to Kathy Franz for coordinating Chair letters and confirming that each packet met FAPTC requirements before submission.

All eight candidates put forward for the 2026–2027 cycle were approved: six to Associate Professor and two to Professor, all on the non-tenure clinical (NTC) track. On behalf of Dr. Eltzschig, Dr. Ju, and the Department Promotions Committee, including Dr. Doursout and our Clinical Executive Vice Chair Dr. Charlie Artime, we offer our congratulations to these outstanding colleagues on their well-deserved promotions that reflect their valuable clinical, educational and academic contributions to the Department and School.
