Q: My son has severe hemophilia A and will be graduating later this Spring and looking to go to college out of town. Will he still be able to continue his visits at Gulf States Hemophilia and Thrombophilia Center?
A: Yes! Your son may continue to be seen at Gulf States Hemophilia and Thrombophilia Center and communicate with the team for his healthcare needs, as long as he maintains his appointment schedule (which can be arranged during semester breaks). It will also be important for him to talk with his healthcare team about what he needs for college relating to his bleed disorder and identify local medical resources, such as community chapter, student health center, and closest emergency room.
