Welcome to the Department of Anesthesiology – New Team Members for April and May 2022
We would like to welcome the below new faculty and staff members to the department.
Asif Zaman, PhD
Dr. Zaman joined the department in May as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in our research division, specializing in age related changes in transcription factor Nrf2 and it’s role in renal function and blood pressure in animal models. He will be working in Dr. Kyle Poulsen’s lab. Dr. Zaman completed his PhD in Biochemistry at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Aligarh, India.
Wisdom Orakwue
Wisdom joined the department in May as a Research Assistant in our research division, specializing in neuroinflammation accompanying neurodegenerative processes especially in Alzheimer’s disease. His research interests include orthopedic surgery, anesthesiology and center. He will be working in Dr. Wei Cao’s lab. Wisdom completed his Bachelor of Science and Arts in Biology in December 2021 at The University of Texas at Austin.
Ethan Roy, PhD
Dr. Roy joined the department on May 2nd as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in our research division, specializing in the microglial response to neuroinflammation and synapse loss in Alzheimer disease. He will be working in Dr. Wei Cao’s lab. Dr. Roy completed his PhD in Translational Biology and Molecular Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
Sanming Li, PhD
Dr. Li joined the department on May 2nd as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in our research division, specializing in the pathophysiology of meibomian gland dysfunction related ocular surface diseases and the molecular mechanism. He will be working in Dr. Wei Cao’s lab. Dr. Li completed his PhD in Physiology at Xiamen University in Xiamen, China.
Keyur Ghael, DO
Dr. Ghael joined the department on May 1st as an Assistant Professor to support our general anesthesia group. He completed his residency at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, NY.
