Dr. Onyi Onuoha is an Associate Professor in the Obstetric Anesthesiology division and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Dept. of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences here at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. She is currently one of the Assistant Residency Program Directors with special interests in medical education, mentorship of residents in the department and creating initiatives that foster open discourse and self-reflection to improve workplace morale and address professionalism and culture-related issues in the department. Dr. Onuoha received both her medical and public health degrees from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health respectively. After, she returned to the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed a residency in Anesthesiology, a fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesiology and remained on faculty at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care. In Obstetric Anesthesiology, she is invested in the care of the high-risk “critically-ill parturient” with specific interests in the cardiac and morbidly obese patient populations. Her current research interests include clinical issues in Obstetric Anesthesia, medical education, and resident physician wellness (adaptability and resiliency in training).
Congratulations to you both!
