Dr. Yang Yang

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Yang Yang is the recipient of the 2023 Pilot Award ($50,000) from the Texas Medical Center Digestive Diseases Center. She is mentored for this Pilot Award by Dr. Cynthia Ju.

The Texas Medical Center Digestive Diseases Center (TMC DDC) facilitates cutting-edge digestive diseases research, promotes collaborative research between basic and clinical areas, develops new projects, nurtures new investigators, and provides GI educational activities.  The Pilot Feasibility Award is given annually to support projects related to the theme for the DDC – GI infection and injury.  More information for this award can be found here.

Dr. Yang’s research is titled “Role of eosinophils-specific COX2 in IBD”. Her long term goal for the current research project is to elucidate the underlying mechanisms by which eosinophils and their derived COX2 protect against DSS-induced colitis. Her career goal is to lead a team of scientists, as a Principle Investigator, to uncover novel molecular and cellular targets that can be developed into therapeutic modalities to attenuate colitis, and provide insights into a cell specific-gene target for IBD therapy.

Congratulations, Yang, on this great achievement!
