New Post Anesthesia Care Unit Director
We are pleased to announce that we have appointed a new Director for the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) after an internal search. We would like to take a moment to recognize and thank our outgoing director Stacy Norrell, MD, who has dedicated over 5 years of hard work, dedication, and leadership to our department in this capacity. Under her guidance, our PACU has achieved numerous milestones, navigated throughput challenges, and has been integral in providing exceptional care to our patients and ensuring a seamless transition from the operating rooms to recovery. She has truly been an essential part of our department’s success. We thank her and wish her all the best as she steps aside to focus on her numerous other leadership roles.
It is our pleasure to introduce our new PACU Director Lauren Nakazawa, MD effective May 1st 2023. Dr. Nakazawa has been a fantastic addition to our department. She has demonstrated leadership, innovative thinking, and a commitment to excellence in her role of Equipment Liaison. She has further demonstrated a zeal for leadership development by obtaining an MBA. As the new PACU Director, Dr. Nakazawa will serve as the primary liaison to surgeons, PACU nurses, and MHH-TMC Perioperative Leadership with regard to post-anesthesia care. We are confident that Dr. Nakazawa’s expertise, experience, and passion will be valuable assets to our team and department. We are confident that she will bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and fresh ideas to the PACU department. She has already hit the ground running and is committed to maintaining the high standards that have been set by Dr. Norrell and further elevating the level of care that our patients receive.
