The sections below contain an overview of our program, faculty, and facilities as well as the fellow’s responsibilities and evaluation criteria. The resources at the disposal of our fellows are considerable. There is computer access to the Houston Academy of Medicine Texas Medical Center (HAM-TMC) Library, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (UTMDACC) library, on-line journals, PubMed, medical texts, and pharmaceutical databases as well as all laboratory data and a variety of scan images available on our electronic medical records systems. Our ICUs are staffed by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, ethicists, pharmacists, dieticians, physiotherapists, respiratory technicians, advanced nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and medical students. It is our hope that you will consider becoming a part of our dynamic critical care team.
The faculty help guide and instruct our fellows to develop the clinical judgment and advanced skills necessary to perform as an attending intensivist upon completion of this program. We also encourage our fellows to take advantage of the many opportunities for research and publications during their fellowship year. It is our objective to train the future leaders in the field of Critical Care Anesthesiology, and we openly invite you to be a part of that exciting future.
Our academic year is from August 1-July 31, and rotation assignments are individualized based on the academic goals of each fellow. We currently have 5 accredited training positions.
