Multiple Sclerosis (MS)


MS begins before the age of 18 in up to 10% of patients. It is caused by dysregulation of the peripheral immune system that leads to injury in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). Its pathogenesis requires the combination of a genetically susceptible individual and particular environmental triggers. For more information, see the pediatric MS guide below.
