What is a lobbyist and why should we care?
Have you ever wondered how lobbyists affect health care policy and access to care?
A virtual forum explaining the state legislative process and the lobbyist’s role will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 14. The discussion will be livestreamed at go.uth.edu/QEPForum.
Panelists include:
- Denise Rose, partner at the Jackson Walker law firm and former assistant vice president for Legislative Affairs at the Texas A&M Health Science Center.
- John Pitts, founder and managing principal of Texas Star Alliance, a bipartisan government affairs group
- Clayton Travis, director of advocacy and policy for the Texas Pediatric Society
The discussion will be moderated by Scott Forbes, senior vice president of Government Relations at UTHealth Houston.
The discussion is the first in a series highlighting how public policy affects health care and research.

The series is a collaboration between the Quality Enhancement Plan team and the UTHealth Houston Office of Governmental Relations.
