2022 Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Graduates

McGovern Medical School’s Department of Internal Medicine graduated its first fellows from the Division of Hematology and Oncology Thursday, July 16.

Frances Cervoni, MD, and Wei Yang, MD, comprise the first class of fellows from the three-year program. Both were graduates of the Department of Internal Medicine’s residency program.

The program has six fellows currently enrolled.

“What started as a dream for me, under the guidance of Bob Amato and the encouragement of McGovern Medical School, resulted in the development of the UT McGovern Hematology/Oncology Fellowship. Graduation was a memorable day,” said Anneliese Gonzalez, MD, director of the Division of Hematology and Oncology.

“To have a fellowship in oncology is a great value for the school,” said Adan Rios, MD, professor of internal medicine, oncology.
