Research retreat returns in person April 28

2022 Research Retreat

Registration is now open for the 2022 McGovern Medical School Research Retreat, an open event sponsored by the Research Committee, where faculty, graduate students, and fellows can learn more about research conducted on campus and interact with their peers.

After being presented virtually in 2021, the event returns to an in-person format to be held from 8:45 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. April 28, in the Beth Robertson Auditorium at the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine (1825 Pressler St.). The event will feature two breakthrough discovery symposia, designed to showcase the talent of junior and senior faculty, as well as a Graduate Student Education Committee sponsored poster competition and a Postdoctoral Fellow Symposium designed to highlight the work of graduate and post-graduate trainees.

Gregg Semenza, MD, PhD, C. Michael Armstrong Professor of Genetic Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, will deliver the keynote address “Hypoxia-inducible factors in physiology and medicine.”

The Graduate Student Education Committee Poster Competition offers students a public forum for presenting their findings and an opportunity to receive valuable feedback on their research. Students also have the opportunity to see how their work compares to that of their peers in a competitive setting. The competition is from 12:35-2:35 p.m. in the Willerson Discovery Hall located at 1825 Pressler St. Awards include a first-place prize of $400, two second-place prizes of $300 and four third-place prizes of $200.
