Arts & Resilience welcomes Houston Playback Theatre Improv Group

Houston Playback Theatre

The John P. McGovern, MD, Center for Humanities and Ethics continues its Arts & Resilience Program by welcoming Houston Playback Theatre to McGovern Medical School, June 22.

Playback theatre is an improvisational form of theater that features members of the group telling and acting on stories from their own lives. The group will perform at 11:30 a.m. in MSB 3.301. Pre-packaged gourmet popcorn is available for the first 30 attendees.

Houston Playback Theatre is the older Playback Theatre company in the southwest United States and is proud to have been serving and entertaining the Houston community since 1996. Playback Theatre members believe in the power of stories and the arts to heal and connect.

Houston Playback Theatre is part of the International Playback Theatre Network and Playback Theatre North America. HPT’s members have receiving training in Playback Theatre performance and theory by co-founder Jo Salas and other leaders of the international Playback Theatre community.

The group consists of eight members, including Sarat Munjuluri, MD, child psychiatry fellow in the Louis A. Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Munjuluri has been involved with Playback Theatre since 2018.
