Baker wins lifetime achievement award

Janet Baker, DMO III, Department of Emergency Medicine, is this year’s recipient of the Academy of Administrators in Academic Emergency Medicine James Scheulen Lifetime Achievement Award. She received the award at the organization’s March annual retreat in Dana Point, Calif.

The AAAEM Lifetime Achievement Award in Academic Emergency Medicine Administration is the highest recognition the academy gives to an individual who has displayed a lifetime of achievement and made outstanding, nationally recognized contributions to academic emergency medicine administration, research, and/or education, over the course of his or her career.

“I am so humbled and incredibly honored by this award from my peers,” Baker said.

Baker joined McGovern Medical School in 1987 as a receptionist in the Department of Surgery, urology clinic. She has been the director of management operations for the Department of Emergency Medicine since 2005.

AAAEM is a professional association for individuals managing the administrative and business functions of an academic department or division of emergency medicine.
