Community Experience
Real-World Pediatric EM Exposure
Our Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Fellowship offers a unique community-based experience at Memorial Hermann Hospital – Katy, where fellows encounter a broad spectrum of pediatric emergencies in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
This setting provides a rare opportunity to practice PEM with significant autonomy, allowing fellows to make critical decisions and perform advanced procedures that in larger academic centers might be reserved for specialists.
At Memorial Hermann Katy, fellows gain exposure to the full scope of community pediatric emergency medicine—from high-volume patient encounters to complex procedural care. This experience is designed to build confidence, independence, and practical skills, while also deepening understanding of how community and academic EM intersect.
Fellows emerge ready to thrive in any pediatric emergency setting, whether in a large tertiary center or a community hospital.
