Electrophysiology
Electrophysiology is a specialty in cardiovascular medicine that focuses on the electrical activity in the heart; the physiological process that makes your heart beat. Electrophysiologists are cardiology physicians who treat conditions affecting the electrical system of the heart.
In the Division of Cardiology our electrophysiology team is comprised of dedicated physicians, nurses, and technicians who are devoted to the evaluation and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias or abnormal heart rhythms. Our physicians have extensive experience with the medical management of heart rhythm abnormalities, the implantation of cardiac rhythm devices, as well as, the latest minimally invasive procedures, known as catheter ablations, which treat and often cure cardiac arrhythmias. We also participate in numerous clinical research trials, allowing our patients to have access to the latest investigation therapies.
Currently our program specializes in the following conditions affecting normal heart activity:
- Arrhythmia
- Atrial Fibrillation Ablation
- Atrial Flutter
- Bradycardia (Bradyarrhythmia)
- Catheter Ablation
- Pacemakers / Defibrillators
- Supraventricular Arrhythmia
- Ventricular Fibrillation
