Resident Research Options
Immersive Research Track:
The research track is a traditional four-year residency program with eleven months of protected research time built across the program. This track is designed for residents with a heavy research interest who are looking to accelerate their career as a physician scientist. This research experience can begin with a dedicated month during their intern year, but the majority of this research is concentrated in the final two years of residency. Residents interested in this pathway will select a faculty research mentor during their PGY-2 year that will offer clinical and research developmental support throughout residency. Residents who pursue this track will have the potential to remain with our department following graduation with guaranteed research time.
Residents interested in this track should make note of this in their residency application. We will host a special interview day to allow you to meet our current physician scientists, explore mentorship opportunities, and take a look at ongoing projects in the department.
Traditional Research in the Department of Anesthesiology:
Residents may also choose to conduct smaller months of research focus with prior approval of the program director. Residents are expected to submit their research proposal and present their work at our annual department research meeting.
